Sculptra® Aesthetic is an injectable treatment designed to address the signs of facial fat loss associated with aging. By stimulating the production of collagen, which naturally declines as we age, Sculptra® helps to smooth out deep wrinkles and folds, particularly the lines from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds). This treatment is not recommended for use around the eyes or lips.

The key ingredient in Sculptra Aesthetic is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a safe, biocompatible, and biodegradable synthetic material. PLLA has been used for over 20 years in various medical applications, including dissolvable sutures and soft-tissue implants, due to its proven safety and long-lasting results. This makes Sculptra® Aesthetic a reliable solution for restoring youthful volume and a smoother, rejuvenated appearance.

Benefits of Sculptra Aesthetic Facial Injectable

Sculptra® Aesthetic, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating nasolabial folds, is a safe and effective option for most patients. Its gradual working mechanism ensures a more youthful, natural appearance with subtle yet noticeable results over time. While not FDA-approved for other areas, Sculptra® Aesthetic can be effectively used for marionette lines (around the corners of the mouth) and chin wrinkles, as noted by the manufacturer, Valeant Aesthetics.

This treatment is free from animal, human, or bacterial components, eliminating the need for allergy testing. Additionally, Sculptra® has minimal downtime, allowing most patients to return to their daily activities right after the procedure. It offers a convenient and effective solution for facial rejuvenation with lasting results.

Sculptra Aesthetic Treatment and Results

Sculptra Aesthetic is typically administered over a series of up to four sessions, spaced three weeks apart. This gradual approach stimulates collagen production, effectively smoothing shallow-to-deep wrinkles and folds while restoring volume to the skin.

Results may vary, but clinical studies show that the effects of Sculptra can last up to two years for most patients, offering long-lasting, natural-looking rejuvenation.

Side Effects of Sculptra Aesthetic

Common side effects of Sculptra injections include localized bleeding, tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort. These effects typically subside within a few days, although they may occasionally persist longer.

In some cases, small lumps under the skin may form, which can be noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Rarely, larger lumps, with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have been reported.
